Abstract

Lifetimes of excited states in 163Lu have been measured using the Dopplershift attenuation and recoil-distance methods. The deduced transition quadrupole moments of the proton [660]12 intruder band are found to be almost twice as large as those of the normal-deformed yrast band. The properties of the intruder band are compared to similar bands in other mass regions and are discussed within the framework of the cranked shell model.
