Abstract

Excitation functions for elastic scattering and reactions of 32S + 32S at center-of-mass angles (θcm) near 90° have been measured in 200 keV steps for the range Elab = 122−138 MeV. The targets were prepared by implantation of negative 32S ions in C foils. The excitation functions are relatively featureless in contrast to previous data for 24Mg + 24Mg and 28Si + 28Si. Elastic scattering angular distributions show some evidence for enhanced cross sections near θcm = 90°.
