Abstract

The energy of a primary gamma-ray from a broad proton-capture resonance can be tuned by adjusting the proton energy. The usefulness of such a source of tuneable gamma-rays is demonstrated in which 17 MeV gamma-rays from a broad 11B(p, γ)12C resonance are resonantly absorbed by a narrow level of 9Be.
