Abstract

The reaction 64Zn.(d, α)62Cu has been performed with 15 MeV deuteron energy. Angular distributions of the outgoing α-particles have been extracted up to an excitation energy of about 4 MeV and angular momenta have been determined by means of DWBA calculations. As this reaction is the first of a series of (d, α) reactions we carried out on target nuclei in the fp shell, we briefly describe the used DWBA formalism and discuss some features of the analysis when applied to (d, α) reactions in the fp shell. Especially a spin-orbit effect, connected with the maximum coupling possibility of (2p32 1f72) and (2p32)2 shell model configurations in our reactions, is discussed.
