Abstract

The analysing power of elastic and of inelastic proton scattering to the first three excited states of 208Pb has been measured in the energy region of the g92 analog resonance at Ep = 14.91 MeV in 209Bi. The analysing power is found to vanish, if there is no interference between direct and resonance scattering. The information which can be obtained from the polarization produced in resonance reactions is discussed.
