Abstract

We demonstrate how a few-body reaction mechanism can be imbedded in the Bencze-Redish-Sloan non-relativistic many-particle reaction theory. As a particular case we show how an effective three-body model can be extracted from the full many-particle equations, and how the full equations allow one to construct corrections of all possible types without being forced into kinematical divergences. Effective three-body equations are extracted using both pole approximation and the Polyzou-Redish combinatoric hamiltonian method. In both cases one obtains in lowest order effective three-body equations with pair potentials which yield exact two-cluster Tmatrices. Corrections to the three-body model are in the form of completely connected operators similar to three-body forces. The specific example of corrections from excluded arrangement channels is considered and applied to the 3He-3H channel corrections to the three-body model of d-α scattering.
