Abstract

The level structure of ¹⁴⁷Pm was studied by methods of in-beam γ-ray and electron spectroscopy using the ¹⁴⁸Nd(p, 2n) reaction. Twenty-four new levels with spins between $12$ and ( $152$ ) were observed. The $12 ± 2 ns h_{112}$ level at 649.3 keV decays by a strongly hindered El transition (1.2 × 10⁻⁶ s.p.u.) to the $92$ ⁺ level at 408.2 keV and by a M2 transition (0.15 s.p.u.) to the ground state.

This work represents an update of the previous evaluation of the nuclear data on the A=147 nuclides (2009Ni02). The experimental data from reaction and decay studies leading to the following nuclides have been reviewed: ¹⁴⁷I, ¹⁴⁷Xe, ¹⁴⁷Cs, ¹⁴⁷Ba, ¹⁴⁷La, ¹⁴⁷Ce, ¹⁴⁷Pr, ¹⁴⁷Nd, ¹⁴⁷Pm, ¹⁴⁷Sm, ¹⁴⁷Eu, ¹⁴⁷Gd, ¹⁴⁷Tb, ¹⁴⁷Dy, ¹⁴⁷Ho, ¹⁴⁷Er, ¹⁴⁷Tm. These data are presented, together with the adopted level schemes and their properties. ¹⁴⁷Pm nuclide and half-life of ¹⁴⁷Nd were evaluated by Balraj Singh (McMaster University; [email protected]). All the other nuclei were evaluated by Ninel Nica (Texas A&M University; [email protected]).

Study of the high-spin structure of 146Pm

Excited states in ¹⁴⁶Pm have been investigated through the ¹³⁶Xe(¹⁵N,5n) and the ¹⁴⁶Nd(d,xn) compound-nucleus reactions. A level scheme extending up to 6.9 MeV of excitation energy and ( $I = 25 h ̷$ ) is proposed. Most of the high-spin levels are interpreted in terms of multi-particle-hole states but at medium spins octupole-phonon excitations are identified. The results are discussed and the level scheme compared with analogous states in neighbouring nuclei. Yrast configurations in ¹⁴⁶Pm are described by the shell-model calculation involving empirical single-particle energies and two-body interactions.
Study of excited levels in 147Pm

Excited states in ¹⁴⁷Pm have been studied through the ¹³⁶Xe(¹⁵N,4n) and ¹⁴⁸Nd(d,3n) compound nucleus reactions. A solid xenon target has been used to populate high-spin states in ¹⁴⁷Pm. Conversion coefficients of weak transitions were determined measuring electron-γ coincidences. The half-life of the isomeric level at 649.3 keV has been remeasured to be 27 ± 3 ns. An extended level scheme is proposed, which is discussed in terms of single-particle excitations and collective quadrupole and octupole vibrations coupled to them. The possible presence of octupole deformation is considered.

Medium-spin levels and A 360 ns Iπ = 19 2- isomer in the N = 80 nucleus 137La

The level structure of ¹³⁷La has been studied using the ¹³⁸Ba(p, 2n) reaction and methods of in-beam γ-ray and conversion-electron spectroscopy. The ¹³⁷La level scheme has been established with 21 new levels with spins up to $192^{−1}$ . A 360 ns $192^{−1}$ isomer at 1870 keV has been identified and a $(π g_{72} (ν h^{−1}_{112} d^{−}_{32})_{7^{−}})_{192^{−}}$ configuration is suggested for it. The level ordering of the $π h_{112} ×2^{+}$ multiplet has been discussed on the basis of the triaxial rotor-plus-particle model which suggests a slightly oblate triaxial shape to the ¹³⁷La nucleus.
