Diffusion model analysis of the energy dependence of fission-like mass distributions

Abstract

Mass distributions for fission-like events observed in the bombardment of 50Ti by 32S are analysed in terms of a diffusion model for different beam energies. An energy-dependent diffusion coefficient is necessary to simultaneously reproduce the marked energy dependence in the data for symmetric and asymmetric fragmentation.
