Abstract

Delayed fission of 238U and 239Pu induced by bremsstrahlung has been measured using the Giessen linear electron accelerator at an electron energy of 53 MeV. The half-lives found are about 200 ns for 238U and about 500 ns for 239Pu. For both nuclei the delayed to prompt fission ratio is about 10-5.
