Abstract

The magnitude of the frequency functions corresponding to subspaces containing up to 16 quasi-particles is studied in a region of energy where the two-quasi-particle and the BCS states are located. The assumption of normality for the frequency functions is discussed and is seen not to play a crucial role in the problem of the mixing of these subspaces. The influence of the states with a high number of quasi-particles is seen to be very important in that region. This importance must be reduced if spurious states are properly extracted.
