Abstract

The spin tensor moments 〈T20〉, 〈T21〉 and 〈T22〉 of deuterons from 12C-d elastic scattering have been measured utilizing the 3He(d, p)4He reaction as an analyser of deuteron polarization. The three deuteron polarization parameters are presented as functions of incident deuteron energy between 3.5 and 7.1 MeV at 37.5° and 45° scattering lab angles. The tensor moments are also presented as functions of scattering angle between 22.5° and 75° lab angles in steps of 7.5° at 5.25, 6.10 and 7.05 MeV deuteron incident energies. An optical-model analysis which includes tensor terms in the deuteron potential has been performed.
