Abstract

Products of the reactions 170Yb+20Ne, 147Sm+40Ar and 169Tm+22Ne were collected by the helium sweeping technique, and their α-radiation analysed with a semiconductor spectrometer. The following measurements were carried out: energies of α-particles Eα, half-lives T12 of the observed emitters and the excitation functions of the reactions leading to their production. The following observed new α-groups have been identified as new isotopes of mercury

Eα (MeV)T12 (s)
179Hg6.076±0.0123.5±0.4
180Hg5.964±0.0125.9±0.8
182Hgα05.838±0.0129.6±0.2
182?Hgα1≈ 5.74≈ 11
183?Hg≈ 5.59≈ 26

Data were also obtained on the α-decay of 185Hg, 179Au, 181Au, 183Au, 185Au, 176Pt, 177Pt, 178Pt and 180Pt, which agree with previous results.
