Abstract

Reaction plane neutron-gamma angular correlations have been measured for the neutron group to the first excited state of 12C at neutron detector angles of 0° and 162° and five deuteron energies between 1.6 and 3.3 MeV. The results are analysed within the framework of the spin-dependent and spin-dependent DWBA theories of stripping reactions. Possible contributions due to competing reaction mechanisms are discussed. In addition correlation measurements are reported of the group to the 15.1 MeV state of 12C at θn = 0° and Ed = 2.88 and 3.31 MeV.
