Abstract

The cross sections for (n, 2n) and (n, p) reactions have been measured for several tin isotopes by the activation method and compared with compound-nucleus theory. Fairly good agreement between the measured (n, 2n) cross sections and the predictions of the statiscal model was obtained, while disagreement between experiment and theory for the (n, p) reaction is interpreted as caused by the presence of direct processes. The cross sections for (n, p) reactions show a decreasing trend with increasing neutron number. The ratio σmg was measured for transitions to several isomeric states in (n, p) reactions.
