Abstract

Measurements of the differential cross section, analysing power, the spin-flip probability, and the spin-flip asymmetry are described. Data were obtained for three isobaric analog resonances (IAR) in the reaction 88Sr(p, p')88Sr(21+) at incident energies of 7.00, 7.08 and 7.53 MeV. Angular distributions of all the measured quantities were fitted by adjusting the values of the inelastic decay widths of the IAR in a computer program which included a direct reaction background. Spectroscopic amplitudes determined by this procedure for excited-core components of the wave functions of states in 89Sr are mostly in good agreement with theoretical calculations.
