Abstract

Nuclear and Coulomb deformation parameters have been deduced from DWBA analyses of angular distributions of 67.5 MeV 13C ions inelastically scattered from 142Nd. Optical model parameters from fits of measured elastic scattering data were used with previously measured B(EL) values to determine initial deformation parameters. Comparison With the experimental data indicates that DWBA calculations can be used to understand the inelastic scattering from the nearly spherical nucleus 142Nd.
