Abstract

The 11/2[505] state at 80 keV in 193Ir is populated after neutron capture in 192Os. It is concluded that the feeding occurs from an isomeric state in 193Os with a half-life of ±1 min. The capture cross section is about 14 mb. The isomeric state is interpreted as being the 9/2[505] state. The log ft value for the 9/2[505] → 11/2[505] transition is greater than 4.9 and probably smaller than 5.2.

So it is reasonable to estimate the fission cross-section of 238U(n,f)89Rb reaction from the values of the gamma peak 1031.92 keV and 1248.14 keV. The half-life of 89Rb is summarized in Table 3 together with the previous reports [29–32] as well as the evaluated result [33]. The deduced half-life from gamma peak 1031 keV and 1248 keV are 15.51 ± 0.20 and 15.44 ± 0.15 min, respectively.
