Abstract

Recent data on incomplete fusion reactions at E ≅ 10 MeV/A are reviewed. The characteristics of these processes such as their localization in l-space, their binary character and the division of cross sections is discussed. The bin-model and its natural extension, the sum-rule model, as well as the break-up fusion model are presented. Attention is paid to the “balance” of cross sections that is needed for a global understanding of the heavy-ion reactions under consideration
