Abstract

The structure of 74Se has been investigated by means of the 76Se(p, t)74Se reaction using a 52 MeV proton beam. The emitted tritons were analyzed by a magnetic spectrograph. The experimental angular distributions are compared with zero-range DWBA calculations to make spin-parity assignments for the observed levels. The previously unreported level structure of a neutron deficient 74Se nucleus and a number of spin-parity assignments are presented. Strongly excited levels at 3.253, 3.749 and 3.847 MeV were identified to be 4+, 5 and 7 two-hole states, respectively. The transition strength to the first excited 0+ state was found to be not so strong (less than 5% of the ground-state transition). Other excited 0+ states have been observed at 2.129, 2.713 and 2.92 MeV.
