Abstract

Antiproton induced fission has been investigated with a novel double-arm fission fragment spectrometer and with a special arrangement to determine absolute fission yields in various targets. The spectrometer measures five parameters per fission event: two masses, two energies and the folding angle. Asymmetric, symmetric and pre-equilibrium fission was observed. The number of nucleons emitted before and after scission was deduced indicating fast fission of hot nuclei.
