Abstract

The 64Ni and 64Zn(d, 3He) reactions have been studied at a deuteron energy of 55 MeV. Proton pickup strengths for l = 1 transitions in 63Co and 63 Cu amounted to 0.4 and 1.7, respectively, in comparison to l = 3 strengths of 7.6 and 8.3, respectively. Proton pickup strength from the 2s12 and 1d deeply bound states is also observed in both nuclei with about half of the sum rule limit for each configuration.
