Triaxial deformation of odd-A Xe and Ba nuclides

Abstract

The properties of odd-A Xe and Ba nuclides have been compared with calculations based on the Triaxial Rotor plus Particle model. The excitation energies of negative parity states and particularly the signature splitting of yrast states can be reproduced only by assuming triaxial deformation. While the energies of positive parity states are little sensitive to γ, B(E2; 721+321+) allowed a determination of γ. The value is very close to that determined from negative parity states.
