Abstract

The form factors for the excitation of some of the low-lying states of 6Li and 7Li have been measured for momentum transfers up to 1.2 fm−1. The results for 6Li are consistent with a p-shell harmonic oscillator parameter of 2.0 ± 0.1 fm. The 7Li data have been compared with the collective model predictions of Chesterfield. Reasonable agreement is obtained. Underlying some of the narrow levels, the spectra of both 6Li and 7Li indicate a rather large quasi-continuous cross section starting just above the alpha-deuteron and alpha-triton separation energies, respectively. Th The “differential” form factors for these continuous cross sections are given. Some spectra of the giant resonance regions of 6Li and 7Li are also presented.
