Abstract

Making use of the non-relativistic form of the relativistic operators, we have computed the corrections to the allowed β-transitions The main contributions are of the order of magnitude M−1(αZ/r0) p/M and q/M. This may affect the spectra, angular correlations, K/β+ ratios and half lives to the extent of a few per cent. It seems that these effects in some cases are within the precision of present day experimental technique and may provide additional information on β-coupling constants. In a following paper we intend to give an analysis of some experiments.
