Abstract

In order to study the photoionization of multiply charged ions (MCI) by synchrotron radiation, a collinear ion-photon merging-beam (MERGING) system and an electron beam ion source (EBIS) have been developed and constructed. Their main features are described including preliminary results of test experiments.
