Abstract

Silicon cathodes with arrays of tips, previously tested under continuous laser exposure and high local field, have produced satisfactory results (quantum yield and high current density). These cathodes have been submitted to a pulsed laser beam. In the range of a few tens of nanoseconds, the photocurrent and laser pulses have the same shape with the same risetime (30 ns). A quantum yield of about 1% has been measured.
