Abstract

We describe a flexible, fully optical readout system intended for the readout of double-sided silicon microstrip detectors. Part of this project has been implemented for the L3 Silicon Microvertex Detector and is already successfully operational; a short summary of the characteristics of this system and of its performance, obtained from laboratory tests and a 1992 beam test at CERN, is also given.
