Abstract

Excitation functions and mean recoil ranges are reported for the formation of 188Pt, 186Ir, 185Os in 10, 11B reactions with 181Ta and for 113Sn in 10, 11B reactions with 107–109Ag. The stacked foil technique was used. The results are indicative of a compound nucleus process. Mean recoil ranges are compared to theoretical calculations with corrections for multiple scattering. The agreement is satisfactory. Evaporation calculations were performed with a modified statistical model code GROGI 2. A good fit is obtained with parameters derived from studies of nuclei at low excitation energies; no enhancement of the rate of γ-emission is needed.
