2011, Journal of Magnetic ResonanceCitation Excerpt :Finally, in the case of limited resolution where the small JAB or JBX splitting cannot be resolved, the error in JAX from the observed peak splitting becomes larger as the relative intensities of the doublet components are changed, thus shifting the apparent peak maximum. Strong coupling can produce additional effects in 2D spectra such as phase distortions of the signals of interest and the presence of spurious peaks [15–17]. Fig. 2d shows phase distortions observed experimentally in the 1H dimension for C2–H2 pairs of glucose.
