Abstract

The reaction 40Ca(α, p)43Sc was studied at 9 and 10 MeV incident energy. The energy levels of 43Sc were determined with a high resolution magnetic spectrograph up to 2.1 MeV excitation. New levels were observed at 1.34, 1.41, 1.64, 1.88 and 1.91 MeV. The reaction mechanism and the nature of the low-lying 43Sc levels are discussed.
