Abstract

  • 1.

    (1) The total serum cholesterol levels of 1300 healthy citizens of Tokyo were determined. Mean values, levels by age and sex, and normal range within 90% and 98% were calculated. Our results were compared with those for rural districts of Japan and for some areas of Europe and America.

  • 2.

    (2) The relation of fat intake to serum cholesterol levels of a 15–24-year group of nurses was negative.

  • 3.

    (3) The relation of obesity to serum cholesterol of the 40–59-year male group showed a threshold of obesity, across which an increase of cholesterol was observed.
