Abstract

Infrared and Raman spectra in the region 5000-20 cm−1 were recorded at low temperature and high pressure of gaseous, liquid and crystalline solid 1-chloro-2,2-dimethylpropane. Quantitative Raman polarization data were obtained. The fundamental frequencies of vibration were assigned according to Cs symmetry and compared with the results of a normal coordinate analysis.

Under high pressure a plastic crystalline phase and two anisotropic crystalline phases were observed.
