Abstract
IN previous papers it was shown that atractyloside, a glycoside (formerly called K-atractylate) extracted from the rhizome of Atractylis gummifera, the aglycone of which contains the perhydrophenanthrene nucleus1, inhibits the uptake of oxygen by rat-liver mitochondria also at very low concentrations (0.0000036 M) and with a marked decrease of the P/O ratio2.
