Abstract
IT was recently stated by T. J. Hart and N. B. Marshall in Nature of August 18 (p. 272) that the breeding ground of the pilchard, Sardina sagax (Jenyns), had been found off the coast of South-West Africa by the R.R.S. William Scoresby. Large numbers of eggs and larvæ were found in March and smaller concentrations in September of 1950.
