Abstract
WHILE there are many investigations on the influence of electrolytes on the electrokinetic or ζ -potential of solids, very few authors have considered the relation between the ζ -potential and the structure and composition of the solid itself. This is partly due to the fact that in many systems the potential-determining ions are foreign to the solid.
