Human Serum Beta-Lipoprotein

Abstract

THE insolubility of delipidated beta-lipoprotein (beta-apoprotein) has been a major obstacle to its characterization. A soluble succinyl derivative of beta-apoprotein (s-beta-apoprotein) has been prepared1–5 and we now contrast its properties with those of a soluble non-succinylated beta-apoprotein6. This latter preparation, in contrast to s-beta-apoprotein, closely resembles the parent lipoprotein in immunological properties and structural conformation.
