Abstract
PREVIOUS investigations of tracer kinetics across frog skin have assumed that the connective tissue layer of the corium does not present a significant diffusion barrier1,2. Thus, a simple analysis assuming a one-compartment model was used to estimate the sodium pool size and the fluxes across the epithelial cell borders. However, the present experiments indicate that the connective tissue layer is a significant diffusion barrier.
