A) Eine Beeinflussung der Eisenreduktion auftretenden Gasgleichgewichte durch anwesende fremde Oxyde tritt, auch wenn diese selbst nicht von den Reduktionsmitteln angegriffen werden, in zwei Fällen ein: 1Wenn die Fremdoxyde mit den Oxyden des Eisens Mischkristalle bilden. Dieser Einfluß wurde festgestellt beim Al2O3, welches mit Fe2O3, bei MgO und MnO, welche mit FeO isomorph sind. Die Mischkristalle sind um so schwerer als die Wüstiphase zu Metall zu reduzieren, je größer der Zusatz des Fremodoxyds ist;2Wenn die Fremdoxyde mit den Oxyden des Eisens chemische Verbindungen einzugehen imstande sind. Solche Einflüsse traten zutage bei Mischungen von Al2O3 entsteht, bei Mischungen von MgO, MnO und ZnO mit Fe2O3, welche zu den Spinellen oder Ferriten MgO·Fe2O3, MnO·Fe2O3 und ZnO·Fe2O3 zusammentreten und besonders bei Mischungen der Eisenoxyde mit Kalk, bei denen die Ferrite CaO·Fe2O3, 2 CaO·Fe2O3 und CaO·Fe2O3 von Bedeutung sind. Die ternäre Lösungsphase X des Systems CaO—FeO—Fe2O3 ist besonders schwer zu Metall zu reduzieren.
