Notes: Abstract The controllability for switched linear systems with time-delay in controls is first investigated. The whole work contains three parts. This is the third part. The definition and determination of controllability of switched linear systems with multiple time-delay in control functions is mainly investigated. The sufficient and necessary conditions for the one-periodic, multiple-periodic controllability of periodic-type systems and controllability of aperiodic systems are presented, respectively. Finally, the case of distinct delays is discussed, it is shown that the controllability is independent of the size of delays.

Notes: Abstract The controllability for switched linear systems with time-delay in controls is first investigated. The whole work contains three parts. This is the second part. The definition and determination of controllability of switched linear systems with single time-delay in control functions is mainly investigated. The sufficient and necessary conditions for the oneperiodic, multiple-periodic controllability of periodic-type systems and controllability of periodic systems are presented, respectively.

Notes: Abstract The controllability for switched linear system with time-delay in controls was first investigated. The whole work contains three parts. This is the first part, including problem formulation and some preliminaries. Firstly, the mathematical model of switched linear systems with time-delay in control functions was presented. Secondly, the concept of column space, cyclic invariant subspace and generalized cyclic invariant subspace were introduced. And some basic properties, such as separation lemma, were presented. Finally, a basic lemma was given to reveal the relation between the solution set of a centain integral equations and the generalized cyclic invariant subspace. This lemma will play an important role in the determination of controllability. All these definitions and lemmas are necessary research tools for controllability analysis.

Notes: Abstract Consider the nonlinear system $$\dot x(t) = f(x(t)) + \sum\limits_{i = 1}^m {u_i (t)g_i (x(t)), x(0) = x_0 \in M}$$ whereM is aC ∞ realn-dimensional manifold,f, g 1,⋯.,g m areC ∞ vector fields onM, andu 1 ,..,u m are real-valued controls. Ifm=n−1 andf, g 1 ,⋯,g m are linearly independent, then the system is called a hypersurface system, and necessary and sufficient conditions for controllability are known. For a generalm, 1 ≤m ≤n−1, and arbitraryC ∞ vector fields,f, g 1 ,⋯,g m , assume that the Lie algebra generated byf, g 1 ,⋯,g m and by taking successive Lie brackets of these vector fields is a vector bundle with constant fiber (vector space) dimensionp onM. By Chow's Theorem there exists a maximalC ∞ realp-dimensional submanifoldS ofM containingx 0 with the generated bundle as its tangent bundle. It is known that the reachable set fromx 0 must contain an open set inS. The largest open subsetU ofS which is reachable fromx 0 is called the region of reachability fromx 0. IfO is an open subset ofS which is reachable fromx 0,S we find necessary conditions and sufficient conditions on the boundary ofO inS so thatO = U. Best results are obtained when it is assumed that the Lie algebra generated byg 1,⋯,g m and their Lie brackets is a vector bundle onM.

Notes: Abstract In this paper, a relay-controlled plant, possessing one positive real pole and one negative real pole, is studied. First, a regulating system is considered; we investigate the design of the controller for simultaneous reduction of error and error derivative to zero. It is seen that this can be achieved provided the initial values of error and error derivative fall inside an admissible (or controllable) region. Attention is then focused on the tracking system. It is shown that, provided the input to the system is of a form similar to the impulse response of the plant, and provided the initial values of error and error derivative of the system fall inside the same admissible region, then the controller used for regulating the system can also be used for tracking the system so as to force the output of the plant to follow the input perfectly; in both cases with at mostone switching reversal of the relay.

Notes: Abstract S is taken to be a dynamical system (described by Banach space operators) whose outputy we wish to regulate. The structural complexity ofS (nonlinearities, distributed parameters, etc.) forces us to design a controller forS using an approximate modelM ofS. A convex error bound ϑ describes the accuracy of the approximation ofS byM. For a prescribed target setY t , we considered the problem of driving the output ofS toY t subject to worst possible error excursions betweenM andS. The notion of areconstructed support function is instrumental to the derivation of the main result, Theorem 6.1, which we can paraphrase as follows. IfM is linear (S need not be), then we can describe a finite-dimensional convex programming Problem (P), whose solution tells us whether or notY t is reachable. Theorem 6.1 is then specialized to differential systems approximated in the norm. The computation of numerical solutions is also discussed.
