Abstract Although thick skin is generally considered a disadvantage in cosmetic surgery of the nasal tip, responsible for the supra tip deformity known as “polly beak” and other aesthetic defects, there are surgical guidelines that can greatly reduce the occurrence of these problems, the most interesting of which is grafting. On the contrary, thick skin could even be considered an advantage, if it masks amputated cartilaginous margins following any dome-sectioning technique.
