Notizen:
The price-performance relationship in main frames of the 1970s and those of the present is examined and it is found that Grosch's Rule is no longer valid. It is shown that the price-performance relationship not only depends on the CPU power but on the whole computer configuration and the organization of data processing. In this context, the price-performance relationships of centralized and more decentralized forms of organization are examined. The price-performance relationship in main frames and in microcomputers is compared. It is predicted that, after a period of advantages in using microcomputers, a reverse tendency may be expected.
