Notes:
A weak sequence of lines in the Raman spectrum of tetrahydrofuran vapour around 270 cm-1 has been observed for the first time and is assigned to combination transitions between the pseudorotational-radial states of the five-membered ring. With the aid of these lines an interpretation for the complex infrared band in the same region is suggested. A suitable Hamiltonian is applied to the pseudorotation energy levels in the ground and the first excited radial state.
