    Description / Table of Contents: On the Corrosion of Lead PipesPitting of waste water pipes made of lead always show identical characteristica. The surrounding of the corroded spots is covered with lead sulfide and basic carbonate.These facts allowed to assume electro chemically controlled corrosion processes. So, under various conditions, current density  -  voltage curves were plotted and the corrosion potential and the corrosion current determined.The results obtained allow to discern the mechanism of pitting corrosion. The velocity of this corrosion was investigated by determining the losses of weight of lead specimens in carbonate and sulfide solutions as well as in their mixtures at different concentrations.
    Notes: Der an Abwasserrohren aus Blei aufgetretene Lochfraß zeigte fast immer das gleiche Erscheinungsbild, wobei in der Umgebung der Korrosionsstellen Beläge von Bleisulfid und basischem Bleicarbonat auftraten.Dieses Erscheinungsbild ließ elektrochemische Zusammenhänge vermuten, deshalb wurden Stromdichte - Potentialkurven unter verschiedenen Bedingungen aufgenommen und daraus die Korrosionspotentiale und Korrosionströme ermittelt. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse klären den Mechanismus der Lochkorrosion.Die Geschwindigkeit dieser Korrosion wurde durch die Bestimmung der Gewichtsverluste von Bleiproben in carbonat- und sulfidhaltigen Lösungen sowie deren Gemischen verschiedener Konzentrationen untersucht.
