The postgraduate diploma study “Corrosion Engineering” at the Iserlohn PolytechnicA postgraduate diploma study “Corrosion Engineering” can be studied at the Märkische Fachhochschule Iserlohn (Iserlohn Polytechnic) either as a three semester full-time study or as part-time study for employed individuals with open time axis (average time three years). The modular study is composed of the courses Physical Chemistry, Material Science, Measuring Techniques, Corrosion Basics, Corrosion Protection, Failure Analysis and Special Topics. Study letters' support the selfstudy process. The contents of the moduls is worked up during 8 separate one to two weeks courses with lectures, seminars, exercises and experiments held in Iserlohn in the Laboratory for Corrosion Protection. The study which today is highly acknowledged in the industry terminates with a three months diploma thesis and will be an integral part of present concepts for certification of persons working in the field of corrosion and corrosion protection. The paper outlines in detail the structure and the contents of this diploma study.

An der Märkischen Fachhochschule Iserlohn wird ein postgradualer Diplomstudiengang „Korrosionsschutztechnik“ sowohl als dreisemestriges Vollzeitstudium als auch als berufsbegleitendes Teilzeitstudium mit offener Zeitachse (Laufzeit im Mittel 3 Jahre) angeboten. Das im Baukastensystem angelegte Studium mit den Modulen Physikalische Chemie, Werkstoffkunde, Meßtechnik, Korrosionskunde, Korrosionsschutz, Schadensanalyse und Ausgewählte Kapitel wird durch Studienbriefe selbststudienmäßig unterstützt. Der stoffliche Inhalt wird in acht getrennten ein- bis zweiwöchigen Präsenzphasen und Praktika im Bereich des Labors für Korrosionsschutztechnik in Iserlohn vertieft. Das in der Industrie inzwischen hochgeschätzte Studium schließt mit einer dreimonatigen Diplomarbeit ab und wird integraler Bestandteil derzeit erarbeiteter Konzepte zur Personenzertifizierung auf dem Gebiet Korrosion/Korrosionsschutz sein. Der Aufsatz erläutert im einzelnen den Aufbau und die Inhalte des Diplomstudienganges.
