Experimental examination by torsional braid analysis (TEA) of the phenomena of gelation and vitrification which occur in the formation of thermosets leads to a general way of regarding both thermoplastics and thermosets. In particular,- it is demonstrated that the thermosetting process is characterized by two transition temperatures, Tff and Tg∞. Implications of this finding are discussed for cross-linking systems in general.
