Notes:
Maintenance of physical properties after thermal aging is becoming more and more important for vinyl as the polymer makes further inroads into engineered applications. Many OEMs and regulatory agencies are now requiring that polymers used in business machine, appliance, and consumer electronic applications maintain both tensile and impact properties for long periods of time at high temperatures. The choice of impact modifier and other formulation ingredients appears critical to developing a successful compound that will maintain both tensile and impact properties after thermal aging. In this paper, we discuss the effects of different impact modifier types and other formulation variables on property retention.
