Menthofuran wird an der Quecksilbertropfelektrode nicht reduziert. Während der Autoxydation läßt sich polarographisch eine Peroxydstufe beobachten. Die Konzentration des als Endprodukt der Autoxydation auftretenden Hydroxy-lactons kann polarographisch bestimmt werden. menthofuran gibt mit Chinon ein kristallisiertes Addukt, die Addukte mit Acrolein und Crotonaldehyd sind flüssig.
