A New Synthesis of 2-Imino-3.4-dihydro-2H-1.3-benzothiazin-4-ones and 4-Imino-3.4-dihydro-2H-1.3-benzothiazin-2-onesTreatment of 3-chloro-1.2-benzisothiazolium chlorides 1 with formamides 2 results in ring-expansion and formation of 2-imino-3.4-dihydro-2H-1.3-benzothiazin-4-ones 3 and 4-imino-3.4-dihydro-2H-1.3-benzothiazin-2-ones 6. The quantitative ratio 3/6 depends on the formamide 2 used and the reaction conditions. For the compounds 3 only the Z-form is observed, whereas for 6 with one exception only the E-form is found.

3-Chlor-1.2-benzisothiazoliumchloride 1 reagieren mit Formamiden 2 unter Ringerweiterung zu 2-Imino-3.4-dihydro-2H-1.3-benzothiazinonen-(4) 3 und 4-Imino-3.4-dihydro-2H-1.3-benzothiazinonen-(2) 6. Das Mengenverhältnis 3/6 hängt vom eingesetzten Formamid 2 und von den Reaktionsbedingungen ab. Für die Verbindungen 3 wird nur die Z-Form und für 6, mit einer Ausnahme, nur die E-Form beobachtet.
