    Description / Table of Contents: Structural and Chemical Properties of Di-μ-iodo-bis(tetracarbonyltungsten) (W - W)It is shown by x-ray analysis that in di-μ-iodo-bis(tetracarbonyltungsten)(W - W), [(CO)4WI]2 both tungsten atoms are surrounded octahedraly by four CO groups and two iodine atoms, serving as bridges. The diamagnetism is caused by the existence of a tungsten-tungsten bond. the chemical properties were investigated by substitution reactions with Lewis-bases. One observes an easy cleavage of the iodine bridges and formation of complexes of the types (CO4)LWI resp. (CO)3L2WI, where L may be P(C6H5)3, P(C6H11)3, P(C4H9)3, C5H5N, NO or OP[N(CH3)2]3.
    Notes: Die Röntgenstrukturanalyse der Titelverbindung [(CO)4WJ]2 zeigt, daß beide Wolframatome oktaedrisch von 4 CO-Gruppen und 2 als Brücken dienenden Jodatomen umgeben sind. Der Diamagnetismus wird durch die Existenz einer Wolfram-Wolfram-Bindung bedingt. Die chemischen Eigenschaften wurden anhand von Substitutionsreaktionen mit Lewis-Basen untersucht. Die Jodbrücken werden leicht aufgespalten unter Bildung der Komplextypen (CO)4LWJ bzw. (CO)3L2WJ, wobei L = P(C6H5)3, P(C6H11)3, P(C4H93(, C5H5N, NO oder OP[N(CH3)2]3 sein kann.
