Description / Table of Contents: Arylamine Radical Cations, Restricted Rotation About the N—Aryl BondThe arylamine radical cations 2·+, 5b·+, 7a, b·+, 10a, b·+, 15a, b·+, and 16·+ were generated in trifluoroacetic acid by oxidation of the parent arylamines with lead tetraacetate and studied by e.s.r. spectroscopy. The e.s.r. spectrum of 7b·+ shows a restricted rotation about the N—aryl bond; ΔG≠ (340 K) 〉 11 kcal/mol.
